Levels of Fakes: "Vintage"
and "Swap Meet Quality" (may not
be TOO embarrassing) fakes
|
#1. "Vintage" fakes typically have a leather patch on a suede lining like this:
They also have a tag outside on the monogram like this:
Here is a typical old Noe fake: Not just this ODD looking leather patch is wrong but also notice the funny "slider" for the drawstring and the trim around the opening.
These labels are easy ones to tell if the item is authentic. Also the monogram canvas is less likely to be symmetric.
Also take a look at the front leather patch of authentic Cartouchiere and St. Cloud that I had. Notice they're NEVER ever stamped, no matter how old. Some vintage FAKE Cartouchiere, St. Cloud, and Jeune Fille are often times stamped here.
Okey, so far quite easy? Now you should be able to spot those from a mile away. You are done with fake vs. real 101. #2. Swap meet quality fakes These get a "little" tricky. I've recently helped my previous buyer who ended up with a "guaranteed authentic" fake bucket (Large). The monogram canvas is symmetric, but with very little attention to the layout. I enlarged the auction pictures (left) to compare to an authentic Large Bucket (right). A fake bucket like this runs $80-$150.
A very popular and functional wallet, and TONS of fakes out there. Here is a picture of an authentic one:
Take a look at this fake below, even made in "Spain". Fakes with "made in Spain" is relatively new. $45-$60!
Warming up? Let's go to the next page for more. | ||
